What the one-hour Dublin run is
The one-hour run is exactly what it sounds like: the party bus for a single hour around Dublin city rather than for a whole night. Groups use it as the opening act — board at a house, apartment or hotel, take a lap of the city with the laser lights on and the sound system going, and step off at whichever bar or restaurant the evening properly starts in.

What goes wrong
The cost of moving a big group across the city without a plan
Dublin at peak time on a Friday or Saturday does not absorb a group of twenty-five gracefully. Cars are scarce exactly when everyone wants them, surge pricing applies in both directions, and a group that orders six of them will not get six that arrive together. The city lap versus the venue-to-venue run
The lap is the simpler format: the bus collects the group, takes a route around the city with the lights and sound on, and drops at the first venue. Nobody gets off in the middle. It is used almost entirely as an entrance, and it is the version most birthday and hen groups ask for.
The venue-to-venue run uses the same hour differently — two or three stops in the city, with the bus doing the moving between them. It suits groups whose evening is already spread across separate bookings, and it is the version that saves the most money against taxi fares.
Either way the hour is agreed in advance, including where it starts and finishes, so the driver is not improvising a route while thirty people wait.
Which groups get the most out of an hour
